Description

With the application S60NewsReader it is possible to read news (newsfeeds) on your Nokia S60 device. This newsreader is the most wanted add-on application for S60Ticker.

Settings & Hotkeys

Using the cursor keys left/right you can navigate between the list of newsfeeds and each list of news.

Panel "S60NewsReader - List of newsfeed"

1 - Activate current or selected newsfeed(s) for scheduled updates
4 - Deactivate current or selected newsfeed(s) for scheduled updates
7 - Reverse status "aktive for scheduled updates"
5 - Update all newsfeeds with status "active for scheduled updates"
8 - Update current selected newsfeed
0 - Set application online/offline
9 - Mark all news of this newsfeed as read/unread
C - Delete current or selected newsfeed(s) - incl. all news

Detailpanel "List of news"

3 - Mark current or selected news as read
6 - Mark current or selected news as unread
9 - Mark current or selected news as read/unread and step to next entry
C - Mark current or selected news as un-/deleted
-> - Show current news message.

Options> Settings> Common

Initial Update

- On
- Off

If set to "On" there is an initial update for all active news feed after application start. Global scheduler status must be "online".

Default IAP

- any available IAP supporting HTTP

Select a default internet access point (IAP) to handel automatically all networkrequests.

Default IAP Roaming

- Don't use for roaming
- Use for roaming

If a default IAP is set (see above) this option rules the behavior for romaing networks.

Connection timeout (minutes)

- minutes

Disconnects an existing network connection after given timeout (in minutes).

Options> Settings> S60Ticker

Display duration

-1,0..600 seconds

Display duration for news elements. If set to “0” no news are displayed – the function is disabled. If set to “-1” the duration is endless – the ticker element must be marked as read or canceled by pressing “C/DEL” (see S60Ticker-hotkey). Only new news are displayed in the ticker band.

Show channel title

- Yes
- No

For each news message the channel title can be added by default.

Show news title

- Yes
- No

For each news message the news title (headline) can be added by default.

On application exit

- Delete news
- Keep news

If set to "Keep news" all active news are kept in the ticker band - as long as they are canceled manually or timed out.

Feed Url

A url to any RSS compliant newsfeed file.

Alias name max. 255 chars An individual alias name - displayed instead of the feed channel title.

Scheduler status

- On
- Off

Option to enable or disable for update scheduler.

Update interval (minutes)

- minutes

An update interval to request the latest news every n-minutes.

Mark as deleted after(days) - days (default: 60)

News are marked as deleted after the given period of time.
Use "0" to disable this feature.

07.10.2008 – S60NewsReader version 1.03.04

  • Import and export of OPML files (type "RSS").
  • Minor bugfixes and code optimisation.

25.08.2008 – S60NewsReader version 1.02.03

  • Optimisation for performance and memory management (internal compression of all news items and local files).
  • Faster startup time.
  • New option "Mark as deleted after(days)". News are marked as deleted after the given period of time. Use "0" to disable this feature - default "60 days".
  • If a news feed aliasname has been set only the aliasname is display instead of feed channel titel and description.
  • Optimized for S60TickerServer v1.06. (support for upto 500 news items.)
  • Workaround: Enhanced encoding for wrong server side encoding added (e.g. "ü").
